Assistant Food & Beverage Manager -Upscale Private Club
Position Summary:
The University Club of Tampa is looking for knowledgeable, front of the house leader to join our food & beverage team. This opportunity requires previous experience as manager in an upscale food & beverage operation.
Job Summary
The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for ensuring attentive service in front of house member dining rooms, bar and catering areas. Active participation in the dining areas including meeting and greeting members and their guest and leading by example in providing exceptional service. Ensure a high-quality beverage program including rotating craft beverages and an engaging wine program. Train all service staff in techniques resulting in attentive service to the guests. Accountable to meet financial objectives. Ensure a complete closing at the end of each day. The Dining Room Manger consistently displays a positive demeanor and focused attention to meet and exceed the Member's expectations.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Make pre-shift preparations and then lead the staff in daily service.
- Active role in the dining rooms or bar areas during prime hours.
- Set up and lead banquet service.
- Opening and closing shifts as Manager on Duty shifts with responsibility to ensure all areas are "Member Ready" and the Club is ready for service.
- Develop an engaging wine, beer and spirits program.
- Responsible for liquor controls, efficient services and timely banquet servcie.
- Possess clear knowledge of all various liquors, beer, and wines available at the Club, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the a la carte menu, including daily features and specials.
- Direct food and beverage service to the Members and guests in all dining areas.
- Accurately execute Member/guest orders and requests in a timely fashion.
- Know Members' names and greet them with a warm welcome.
- Works closely and provides support to our Catering Manager with private events.
- Provide directions to the service Captains.
- Coordinate activities with the Management Team.
- Strong on POS systems. Jonas or similar a plus.
About You
- Previous Food & Beverage management experience is required.
- Working knowledge of bar-related beverages, dining service and banquets.
- Alcohol and food safety awareness certificate.
- Excellent communication skills and articulate speech.
- Private Club experience a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Able to be on your feet for a long period of time.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision and can also work with a team.
Schedule:
- 10-hour shift
- Holidays- Gasparilla, Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving & Santa Brunch
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
Qualifications:
- 1 to 3 years high-profile service operation working upscale atmosphere.
- Minimum 2 years of bartender experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Salary & Benefits
Exempt position: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience
The Club offers an excellent bonus and a benefit package, after 90 days full-time, will be eligible.
