WTE Equipment Operator/CDL Truck Driver

Position Summary:

This position operates plant equipment, including bridge cranes, loaders, forklifts, sweepers, vehicles, commercial vehicles, trucks, and other equipment, in order to receive and process refuse and maintain ecomaine facilities and equipment within ecomaine's established practices. Coordinates, transports, and monitors the removal of residue at the WTE Facility to the Landfill. Person performs a variety of services including maintenance and cleanliness in the facility and minor equipment maintenance.

Functions and Responsibilities:

• Perform inspections of equipment, buildings, and grounds and carries out the work necessary depending on the findings and reports them to the supervisor or his/her designee as company and/or regulations require

• Transports the ash, metals and other materials from the Blueberry Road facilities to the landfill as needed.

• Make out clear and accurate reports on equipment and write other reports as required.

• Maintain a high level of job safety

• Perform equipment inspections; tests and assists in trouble shooting and rebuilding of major equipment as assigned

• Perform rolling stock preventative maintenance

• Operates all plant equipment, including rented equipment, as assigned and performs general and strenuous labor duties

• Flexible with schedule and hours worked to perform maintenance, clean up, and filling of vacant positions such as scale house attendant, crane operator, equipment tipping hall, WTE EO/ CDL Truck Driver assigned to ash hauling operations, and assisting in the warehouse

• Perform basic maintenance tasks, including basic welding and cutting, rolling stock maintenance, oil changes, equipment lubrication routes, conveyor adjustments, minor insulation and lagging with appropriate training, filter and strainer cleaning, equipment opening and closing, valve maintenance, bulb changing, and equipment inspections

• Available for call-ins

• Other duties as assigned

Desired Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 2 years' experience in the operation of heavy equipment including front-end loaders

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical maintenance

• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with the ability to obtain tank endorsement within his/her probationary period and be insurable by ecomaine

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Able to read, understand, and apply safety rules and regulations

• Able to perform strenuous labor and wear respiratory PPE

• Knowledgeable of computer functions for maintenance and scale house operations

• Basic understanding of crane operation and maintenance

• Able to use hand tools and instruments

• Able to recognize and correct jams

• Able to detect and evaluate mechanical problems and provide for appropriate corrective measures
