Sand Pit Operator

Location: Poland, Maine

Company: Aceto Earthworks

About the Role: Aceto Earthworks is seeking a motivated, hands-on individual to manage and run the daily operations of a small sand pit. This is a great opportunity for someone with equipment experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining production, safety, and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of pit operations, including material extraction, screening, and loading.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, and dump trucks.
  • Manage inventory of sand and related materials.
  • Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and compliance with DEP and safety regulations.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and inspections.
  • Coordinate with trucking operations and customers for deliveries and pickups.
  • Track production and report quantities to management.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in excavation, aggregates, or pit/quarry operations preferred.
  • Strong equipment operating skills (loader, excavator, skid steer).
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and organized.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license (CDL a plus).

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
