Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and governmental accounting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent analytical skills and the ability to mentor junior staff. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and journal entries.
  • Perform financial analysis, cash flow analysis, and budgeting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX and other relevant regulations.
  • Mentor and train junior accounting staff on best practices in financial management.
  • Prepare and interpret financial reports for management review.
  • Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits to ensure compliance with auditing standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and various financial software applications.
  • Familiarity with securities law, wills & trusts law, private equity, and technical accounting is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
