Vice President of Business Development

eMetric is a San Antonio based technology platforms provider for K-12 education seeking a Vice President of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships.
The VP of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships will guide the company's strategic expansion; building relationships, identifying market opportunities, and ensuring our assessment solutions deliver measurable value to states and partners nationwide. Acting as both strategist and relationship builder, this leader will champion eMetric's mission, elevate brand visibility, and shape a growth strategy that positions our assessment technology solutions as trusted and transformative within the education ecosystem. This is a senior leadership position, and we expect the VP of Business Development to spend a majority of their time focusing on and interacting with prospective customers and partners.
Primary Responsibilities and Impact
Strategy, Sales, and Growth
- Architect and lead a comprehensive growth strategy in line with company goals to bring solutions to states.
- Lead efforts targeting, prospecting, and acquiring new customers.
- Design and implement state-level strategy for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Information (RFIs), state lists, and other state-level solicitations.
- Oversee sales forecasts, set targets, and ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Own measurable targets around brand influence, executive engagement, and partnership driven pipeline contributions.
- Develop and deliver high-impact presentations, remarks, and other public-facing materials that strengthen eMetric's reputation and presence in the state education marketplace.
- Continuously monitor K-12 market trends, competitor landscapes, and evolving customer needs to inform business development strategies.
Partnerships and Relationship Management
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for growth through strategic partnerships that expand the company's reach and impact.
- Build and sustain long-term relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and industry partners.
- Identify, establish, and manage partnerships with educational associations that provide access to decision-makers and thought leaders.
- Cultivate executive-level relationships that lead to strategic meetings, collaborations, and sales opportunities.
- Develop alliance strategies with complementary technology providers that will strengthen the company's value proposition to partners.
- Collaborate closely with internal business, technology, and product teams to ensure a unified, customer-focused approach tailored to the needs of each partner or state client.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum of 5 years in leadership roles within sales, business development, or strategic partnerships, with a demonstrated record of driving growth and securing large-scale opportunities at the federal, state, and/or large district level.
- Proven success in designing and executing high-impact sales strategies within the K–12 education or assessment technology market.
- Comprehensive understanding of the K–12 assessment ecosystem, including market dynamics, procurement processes, and assessment program needs at the state and district levels.
- Deep understanding of software development life cycle and application of AI/machine learning in educational assessment.
- Established professional network within the K–12 or education technology industry is preferred, with strong relationships that support partnership and growth opportunities.
- Leadership experience within a state education agency may be considered in lieu of direct sales or business development experience.
- A doctoral degree in educational measurement or a related field is preferred.
