A growing company is seeking a
hands-on Payroll Manager
to fully own payroll operations, ensure strong compliance, and lead an upcoming payroll system conversion. This is a
stand-alone role with no direct reports
, ideal for someone who thrives in an independent function, communicates clearly, and takes initiative.
What You'll Do
- Manage all aspects of bi-weekly payroll, including commissions, bonuses, adjustments, and reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate employee data, timekeeping, deductions, garnishments, and payroll documentation.
- Lead the company's
payroll system conversion
(Paycom ideal), including testing, process mapping, and go-live support. - Oversee
prevailing wage
and LCP compliance requirements. - Partner with Finance, HR, and Operations to resolve payroll issues and support cross-functional needs.
- Produce payroll and commission reports; assist with year-end filings and audit support.
- Identify areas to streamline and improve payroll processes.
What We're Looking For (Required)
- 4+ years of progressive payroll experience
- Experience with
prevailing wage
and LCP compliance - Payroll conversion/implementation experience (Paycom ideal)
- Strong communication skills; positive, adaptable, proactive
- Ability to work independently in a
stand-alone payroll capacity - Experience with commissions or bonus programs
Nice to Have (+)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field
- Experience with
Paycom or ADP - Experience in construction, field services, or similar industries
- Payroll certifications (CPP, CPPT)
