About The Role
As a Robotics Engineer on the Data Capture team, you will develop and improve software to configure and control sensors and inspection vehicles to ensure we capture high quality data of our customers' renewable energy assets. The mapping and navigation software you create will be used across verticals to help our customers understand the condition of their assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement algorithms for visual inertial navigation.
- Collaborate with the software engineering team to integrate navigation systems into our products.
- Conduct testing and validation of navigation systems to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in visual inertial navigation technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
- Perform IMU camera calibration. Work on visual-inertial perception and visual SLAM.
- Handle sensor calibration and high-speed visual control and estimation of aerial vehicles.
- Apply knowledge and hands-on experience working with IMU sensors and Inertial Navigation System.
- Gain hands-on experience with sensor signal processing such as Kalman Filter and Extended Kalman.
- Write algorithms for obstacle avoidance and trajectory generation.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design and prototyping to testing and deployment.
- Debug and troubleshoot existing robotics software and hardware issues.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality and maintainability. Document designs, algorithms, and test procedures to ensure clarity and knowledge transfer.
- Assist in defining system requirements and specifications, bringing a hands-on perspective. Propose and prototype new ideas or solutions for challenging robotics problems, demonstrating initiative
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees are preferred. Proven experience in visual inertial navigation systems.
- Strong knowledge of sensor fusion, state estimation, and Kalman filtering.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java or Python.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Solid scientific training and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience with personal robotics projects, academic capstone projects, or relevant hackathon participation, showcasing practical application of skills.
- Experience working in agile development environments or similar fast-paced, iterative settings.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development.
- Exposure to real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded systems development is a plus.
- Strong initiative and a proactive attitude, eager to jump into new challenges and drive solutions forward.
- Exceptional eagerness to learn new technologies and concepts quickly, with a growth mindset.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks, while also being a collaborative team player.
- Resilience and persistence in solving complex technical challenges, demonstrating a "can-do" attitude.
- A strong sense of curiosity and a genuine passion for robotics and autonomous systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and clear documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks, enabling incremental progress. Bonus: Participation in robotics clubs, competitions (e.g., RoboCup, FIRST Robotics), or open-source projects.

This position is based in Boston, MA. The anticipated salary range for this role is $160,000 – $170,000 USD, commensurate with experience and qualifications
