About the Role

We're looking for a Systems Engineer who thrives in uncertainty, loves building, and wants to put real hardware in the ocean. If you get excited about working on hands-on foundational engineering, building prototypes, running sea trials, and solving new problems, this is your role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and iterate on systems architecture and integration that can thrive and perform in subsea environments
  • Collaborate tightly with a small, cross-functional team
  • Take clean sheet concepts from whiteboard to system-level design, prototype, scaled testing, and at-sea deployment
  • Own your work end-to-end: design, test, integrate, debug, repeat
  • Define and manage system requirements, interfaces, and verification plans
  • Push the limits of what's possible in subsea technology

Qualifications

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years building and integrating real systems

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with system modeling and tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, SolidWorks, ROS, Python, embedded systems, or similar
  • Comfortable working with a small team and wearing many hats
  • Strong problem-solving drive: when something breaks, you dive in and fix it
  • U.S. citizen; eligible for DoD security clearance

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with underwater robotics, UUVs, AUVs, ROVs, subsea sensors, or marine systems
  • Knowledge of common ocean engineering challenges
  • A track record of hacking, building, or shipping projects outside of "normal" work
  • Active DoD Secret clearance

  • Type: Full-time (early-stage hire)
