Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays a vital role in elevating Goodwill's mission, programs, and brand identity. This position supports organization-wide marketing needs, coordinates day-to-day communications workflows, and contributes to the development of engaging, brand-compliant content. Serving as a central collaborator within the Marketing & Communications team, the Coordinator helps ensure that mission-focused messages reach the right audiences at the right time and supports operational excellence through accurate, timely project management.

This is a flex worker position reporting to the Director of Brand Experience.

Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for the marketing needs of all departments throughout the organization, while providing administrative support to the Marketing and Communications team. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator also provides content creation and management assistance to the Director of Brand Experience and Senior Multimedia Specialist.

Essential Duties(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)

  1. Gathers requests for marketing support from internal and external clients; coordinates weekly team meetings to share information, initiates new projects and provides status updates on projects in progress. Helps to secure creative elements needed for projects such as photos and artwork. Maintains communication with internal clients and team to ensure project deadlines are met. Assists with managing deadlines of paid media calendar and public relations calendar.

  2. Provides social media support and produce brand compliant content for internal and external use under the guidance of the Director of Brand Experience.

  3. Provides administrative assistance to the Marketing team by way of monthly invoices, p-card and purchase order reconciliation, supplies ordering and dispersing, and maintaining GoodPoint Marketing page.

  4. Serves as event coordination support for store openings, donor events, and community outreach. Provides event assistance for regional and national Goodwill meetings hosted by Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia.

  5. Provides content creation support to the Director of Brand Experience and Senior Multimedia specialist as needed, to included basic online design, photography, video and social media management support.

  6. Provides support and back up assistance to the receptionist function as needed, to include coverage when existing reception staff are unavailable.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

The associate in this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in marketing, communications, English or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 Years' experience in a related field required.
  • No professional certifications are required for this position.
  • Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
  • Associates in this position will be required to successfully pass both state and federal criminal background checks and sex offender check.
  • Ability to operate PC and databases, proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Administrative planning experience preferred. Microsoft Office required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Work Conditions

  • General Office Position - The associate is required to lift up to 10 pounds maximum.
  • The associate works in a general office environment and is infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.).


• The associate is required to travel throughout the Goodwill service area. Occasional overnight travel is required.
• The associate must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
