Contracts and Grants Administrator II
plays a critical role in supporting this mission by managing the financial and regulatory aspects of VRI's sponsored research. In this role, you'll help ensure compliance with institutional policies and sponsor regulations across a portfolio of grants and contracts, directly supporting groundbreaking research in global transfusion and biologics safety, availability, and effectiveness.

As a
Contracts and Grants Administrator II
, you'll get to:
- Provide financial reporting, analysis, budget management, and administrative support for an assigned portfolio of Principal Investigators.
- Participate in the month-end close process, preparing and justifying journal entries as needed.
- Manage the post-award side of the sponsored projects lifecycle for assigned awards, from fund setup through closeout reporting, independently tracking deadlines for invoicing, budget period cycle/closeout, and financial reporting.
- Prepare invoices to sponsors.
- Review expenditures for compliance with sponsor terms, budget alignment, and applicable regulation.
- Support audit readiness by identifying and resolving compliance risks.
- Strategically manage budgets, making recommendations to Investigators supported by regular reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
- Communicate with sponsors and suppliers to resolve issues; prepare prior approval requests as needed.
Requirements
Knowledge/ Education
- Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Experience
- Three years of experience in Research Contracts and Grants Administration, required.
Skills/Abilities
- Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and good judgment while leveraging existing analytical skills and background knowledge to research and deliver solutions independently.
- Strong communication skills, and a customer service focus. Ability to anticipate the needs of others.
- Intermediate professional knowledge (industry, research, budget, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.)
- Basic knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines, including the OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and NIH Grants Policy Statement.
- Basic knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures, and compliance regulations in all areas of research administration required.
- Must possess effective oral and written communication skills for various audiences.
- Must be self-motivated and a self-starter with good organization skills.
- Must be flexible, able to deal with change and unpredictability.
- Must have ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and assignments.
- Must be decisive, exercise good judgement, have excellent analytical skills and be both result- and solution-oriented.
- Must have proficient computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good knowledge of Excel formulas is required.
- Ability to manage a high volume of transactions, independently assigning priority and resolving workload with minimal assistance.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance and prioritize workload to ensure required service levels are achieved and relevant deadlines are met.
- Proficient in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
- Good writing skills; ability to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail.
