Job Summary:
The position of Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for the monthly accounting and reporting for a large portfolio of shopping centers.?In addition, this role is responsible for reviewing and reconciling all account activities performed by their subordinates for properties under their portfolio.

General Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly financial report package in an accurate and timely manner including, but not limited to the following:
  • Posts general ledger transactions.
  • Reviews general ledgers for accuracy and detail.
  • Prepares and reviews financial statements for cash and accrual basis accounting.
  • Researches and prepares budget variance reports.
  • Reconciles escrow and mortgage balances with lender statements.
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliation schedule.
  • Ensures monthly mortgage, owner distributions, sales tax, and operating expenses are paid in a timely manner each month.
  • Reviews and approves cash management reports prepared by accounts payable personnel.
  • Prepares and/or reviews monthly bank reconciliations, sales tax and management fee computations.
  • Prepares and/or reviews annual property budgets and annual CAM reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the supervision and training of direct reports on all related accounting matters.
  • Assists the Director of Accounting with special projects, time-sensitive assignments, and other matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated in both writing and conversation.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously with varying deadlines.
  • Acute attention to detail and accuracy with very high standards for excellence.
  • Interpersonal and relationship building skills, including the ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office programs with a strong proficiency level in Excel.
  • Yardi accounting experience software preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and reporting.
  • 3+ years of experience in real estate accounting, ideally within the commercial property management industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent is required.
