This recently relocated military family is adjusting to a new rhythm of life in Honolulu. Mom is a devoted mom and medical provider working non-traditional hours, balancing a demanding hospital schedule with the needs of her two sweet and spirited children.

About the Family

The youngest is currently in daycare while the older sibling is in kindergarten, both getting used to new routines, schools, and surroundings. As they navigate a new routine, the family is looking for a warm, dependable nanny who can offer reliable, steady support during morning drop-offs, afternoon pick-ups, and everything in between. With a flexible and understanding presence, you'll become an anchor for this family during a time of exciting (and busy) transition.

Position Details

  • Location: Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu
  • Child: 4 & 6 years old
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Schedule: 20 hours/week, typically Monday–Friday with some weekends and overnights depending on the parent's hospital schedule. The schedule will be provided a month in advance.

Responsibilities

  • Morning routine: Wake up, dress, feed, and transport children to daycare/school
  • Afternoon/evening care: School/daycare pick-ups, supervision, and engaging age-appropriate play
  • Support smooth transitions between school/daycare and home routines
  • Prepare simple snacks or meals for the children
  • Keep children's areas tidy and organized
  • Assist with occasional weekend or evening care depending on mom's on-call or night shifts
  • Serve as a consistent presence when school schedules change unexpectedly (e.g. early dismissals or closures)

Ideal Candidate

  • Confident supporting two young children across different stages (preschool and early elementary)
  • Brings a calm, consistent, and supportive energy to the home
  • Thrives in a role that requires flexibility, adaptability, and clear communication
  • Comfortable with early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends or overnights
  • Base access preferred, or open to obtaining a visitor pass
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong reliability and punctuality
  • Has a valid driver's license and is comfortable driving children
  • Committed to becoming part of the family's support system, not just a caregiver but a trusted partner
  • Bonus: Experience supporting families in military or healthcare settings

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $25/hr

Benefits Include:

  • W2 employment with tax withholding

  • Expense reimbursement (if applicable)

Required:

  • 3+ years of professional childcare experience
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Strong references from recent nanny or infant care roles
