Job Description: Accounting Manager and/or Controller (commensurate with experience)

The primary responsibility of this position will be to serve as a key member of Pegasus' accounting team to help support the Company's growth in the Permian Basin and Appalachia. This role will support all functions of Pegasus' accounting department, including (but not limited to) consolidation and financial reporting, partnership tax, treasury, revenue and receivables, PP&E, debt and equity, derivatives, and other general accounting functions. In-office position preferred, however remote/hybrid may be a possibility depending on the candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial reporting, tax, and treasury:

  • Internal and external financial reporting to management and stakeholders
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax preparers, and consultants to manage and complete projects as needed
  • Cash management and other treasury functions

Revenue:

  • Journal entries for cash deposits and revenue
  • Revenue accruals and associated analysis
  • Revenue recovery including pursuing outstanding receivables from operators
  • Lease bonus and other income items
  • Supervise revenue accountants
  • Other revenue special projects and analysis

PP&E:

  • Acquisitions (PPAs) and divestitures
  • Transfers from unproved to proved properties
  • Depletion calculations
  • Impairment assessments

  • Support other accounting functions and assist with special projects as needed

  • Adhere to rigorous monthly, quarterly, and annual close deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree from a four-year college or university in accounting
  • Active CPA license in Texas (for Controller position only)
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Power BI skills
  • Enertia oil and gas software and Workiva consolidation/financial reporting exposure
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas contracts and lease terms including pricing and deductions
  • Highly organized and possess good problem-solving and time management skills
  • Comfortable with monthly, quarterly, and annual recurring close responsibilities
  • Ability to be a team player and interact with different disciplines within a company
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of direct reports and achieve high levels of performance
