Position Summary:
This role will be responsible for the Kraken Community Iceplex facility and ice maintenance. This position is responsible for driving and maintaining the Zamboni and ice edger machines as well as opening and/or closing the building, maintaining the cleanliness of the locker, restrooms, and public areas, and carrying out a range of building maintenance and upkeep tasks of the building. Works with the Operations Director to ensure a great experience for all patrons.
KCI's busiest times occur on weekends and evenings, when shift leadership is most critical. This role will primarily focus on weekend and evening shifts. Operator will be responsible for acting shift lead for other PTE drivers, as lead coordinator with guest services and restaurant and for ice maintenance duties. Coordination and communication with other Facility Operations leads will be paramount to success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish the Kraken Training Center as the predominant ice facility in the greater Seattle region
- Coordinate with the Director of Facility Operations to support rink operations
- Successfully drive and operate a Zamboni (previous experience required)
- Oversee all Zamboni Operators
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Upkeep of the resurfacing machines and ice edger
- Exhibit superior customer service
- Help maintain a clean facility
- Act as a shift leader during the assigned shift
- Upkeep of all necessary logs pertaining to building functions and skate sharpening logs
- Act as shift lead responsible for the overall function of the building in absence of the Director of Operations
- Provide basic maintenance to refrigeration/HVAC systems to include greasing of motors, changing filters, and cleaning of condenser strainers
- Ensure proper maintenance of ice surfaces
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Previous facility operations experience
- Extremely organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first
- CIT (Certified Ice Technician) professional designation or willingness to obtain
- Experience in rink operations
- Understanding of event and on-ice programming
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
- 3+ years' work experience in a related field

- In accordance with Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected salary range for this position is $28/hr - $32/hr. Actual base pay will depend on employee's experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights, and holidays required
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, and extensive walking through the building, including inclines and stairs.
