Assistant Director of Nursing

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) works under the direction of the Director of Nursing and is responsible for many clinical components of resident care. The ADON is a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team and oversees resident care, lab /diagnostic services, anticoagulant monitoring, wound care, catheter management, psychotropic medication use, skin and weight review and Certified Nursing Assistant training and oversight. In the event that the Director of Nursing is unavailable, the ADON acts as the leader of clinical compliance for the facility.
Role and Responsibilities:
Know, understand and implement the mission of Monument Health.
Follow all company policies as contained in the Associate Handbook, Code of Conduct and all other active policies including but not limited to attendance, dress code, workplace safety, zero-tolerance policies and professional conduct.
Participate in all required meetings, trainings and events.
Complete and post daily staffing, ensuring nursing PPD is within budget, report discrepancies to DON.
Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures including the safety program.
Complete daily clinical and environmental rounds to evaluate resident care being provided and report significant events.
Oversee the wound care program; track and report all changes in wounds to the Director of Nursing and Care Coordinator.
Assess resident care needs and assist in the development of individualized plans of resident care.
Monitor all diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the health care provider, to ensure they are in accordance with established procedures.
Assist in staff development; formally and informally monitor performance of personnel and ensure adjustments/corrections are made by using coaching, counseling and discipline methods when assigned.
When assigned, work with the Director of Nursing to resolve staff performance issues.
Participate in resident care conferences.
Oversee resident treatment and medication management and make changes to resident medication regime as needed.
Encourage, teach and motivate staff to perform resident care functions in ways designed to promote and increase the resident's overall quality of life.
Ensure that personnel are assigned responsibilities consistent with their education, experience and ability.
Support, assist and evaluate staff nurses in the management of their units.
Establish and alter staffing patterns within the framework of the established budget based on the needs of residents. Assist to develop work assignments, schedule duty hours and assist and supervise nursing staff to ensure that all personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
Assesses new and acutely ill residents and determine the need for medical care, hospitalization or specialty nursing care interventions.
Review and consider recommendations from professionals including but not limited to, Registered Dietician, Registered Pharmacist, etc. and implements corrective actions as indicated.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Active Registered Nurse License
TB Clearance
CPR Certification
Ability to Lift / Move a Minimum of 50 Pounds
