Position Overview

The Low-Voltage Switchgear Floor Manager will oversee daily operations on the production floor, managing a team of assembly technicians responsible for building custom electrical panel boards and switchgear systems. This individual will be accountable for workflow coordination, quality assurance, safety enforcement, and communication between engineering, procurement, and assembly teams.

This is a hands-on leadership position that combines technical knowledge, team management, and production planning within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the switchgear assembly floor to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
  • Supervise and mentor assembly technicians, providing technical guidance and training as needed.
  • Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and bills of material to assist with assembly and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering and design teams to resolve technical issues and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain and enforce compliance with UL, NEMA, and NEC standards for electrical assembly.
  • Ensure workplace safety, adherence to procedures, and use of proper PPE and tools.
  • Conduct quality control inspections throughout the production process.
  • Monitor inventory levels, communicate material needs, and coordinate with purchasing for part replenishment.
  • Lead daily production meetings, prioritize work orders, and allocate manpower effectively.
  • Review project timelines, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Prepare reports on production metrics, performance, and quality issues for upper management.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in low-voltage switchgear or electrical panel board assembly.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role within an electrical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of UL 891, NEMA, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing a diverse team.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, measuring equipment, and standard electrical assembly practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic computer literacy for production tracking and documentation.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar drafting software.
  • Prior experience managing custom or small-batch manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
  • UL certifications of any kind
