Job Summary
Miller Electric-Virtual Design and Construction Planner
The VDC Planner is responsible for the planning, layout, design, and coordination of assigned projects. They can rely upon their extensive level of electrical knowledge in the construction field.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Planning, layout, design, and coordination of electrical installations
  • This person has a thorough knowledge of electrical systems, construction documents, and quality construction work practices
  • Maintains regular contact with project personnel as well as professional relationships with designers, owners, and subcontractors
  • Reviews project specifications and material submittals for project requirements
  • Supports pre-construction, pre-fabrication, and construction teams with electrical/systems/construction-related issues
  • Aids in the creation of detailed bill of materials
  • Educates field personnel on layout/design processes and supports project efforts
  • Creates detailed layout drawings while adhering to company standards
  • Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall layout efforts
  • Communicate ideas for continuous improvement in standards and workflows
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Licensed journeyman with 7-10 years of running work on construction jobsite
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and efficiently use software such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Google Suites, and file-sharing platforms
  • Experience with team collaboration
  • Demonstrates problem-solving ability and can work under rigorous schedules
  • Demonstrates organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in reading and understanding of all forms of construction documents
  • Ability to interpret 2D plans and provide input to a 3D model
  • A commitment to continued learning and development
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
