As a Material Handling Delivery Driver – Haul Truck/Rollback Operator, you're not just driving a truck—you're delivering critical equipment that keeps warehouses, distribution centers, and industries running. You'll be the backbone of our service and logistics team, ensuring that forklifts and material handling equipment arrive safely, on time, and in top condition to our customers. This role requires a high level of safety awareness, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to customer service.
Your mission?
To be the trusted expert in delivering, operating, and positioning material handling equipment with precision, safety, and professionalism. You'll load, transport, and unload a variety of forklifts, lift trucks, and heavy equipment—ensuring each delivery is executed with care, efficiency, and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Precision Transport & Delivery
Operate Rollback & Haul Trucks with Expertise – Safely transport forklifts, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment to customer sites, job sites, and service centers with efficiency and precision.
Master the Art of Loading & Unloading – Secure loads properly, operate hydraulic tilt beds and winches, and maneuver heavy equipment on and off rollback or haul trucks with expert care.
Plan & Execute Safe, Timely Deliveries – Map efficient routes, adhere to schedules, and ensure prompt, professional delivery service to customers.
Ensure Load Accuracy & Securement – Verify that shipment contents match the manifest and ensure all cargo is properly secured using chains and binders to prevent damage or shifting during transport.
On-Site Equipment Operation & Setup – When required, operate delivered equipment on-site to position it correctly, ensuring customers receive fully functional machinery ready for use.
Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance
Pre- & Post-Trip Inspections – Conduct comprehensive checks on trucks, trailers, and transported equipment before and after each trip to ensure roadworthiness and safety compliance.
Maintain Vehicle Performance – Regularly refuel, monitor tire pressure, and perform basic vehicle upkeep to maintain peak operating condition. Report mechanical issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted service.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance – Adhere strictly to all DOT, OSHA, and company regulations, following best practices for transportation, securement, and on-road safety.
Customer & Business Relations
Customer Interaction & Professionalism – Represent WMH with a strong customer service focus, answering inquiries, ensuring seamless deliveries, and maintaining professional relationships.
Obtain Delivery Confirmations – Secure customer signatures upon successful deliveries, confirming receipt and ensuring full compliance with documentation requirements.
Clear & Effective Communication – Keep open lines of communication with customers, co-workers, and management to ensure smooth operations and proactive problem resolution.
Operational & Yard Support
Assist in Shop & Warehouse Operations – When not on deliveries, support warehouse and yard teams by staging equipment, maintaining truck readiness, and assisting with inventory organization.
Equipment & Site Preparation – Help set up deliveries and equipment staging areas, ensuring readiness for seamless transport and operations.
Basic Haul Truck & Rollback Maintenance – Maintain vehicle cleanliness and assist with minor maintenance as needed, ensuring all haul trucks and rollback units are in optimal working condition.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Travel to various job sites; Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments

- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use fingers, hands, arms dexterously.
- Must occasionally lift/ transport up to 75 pounds.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Must be able/comfortable with loading, unloading, and securing equipment with chains and binders
- Comfortable with overtime/weekend transport
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience & Technical Expertise Heavy Equipment Transport Expertise – Minimum 3+ years of experience operating rollback trucks, haul trucks, or heavy equipment transport (Material Handling industry preferred).
Load & Secure Mastery – Proven ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload forklifts, lift trucks, and other heavy machinery.
Equipment Operation – Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment preferred.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics Knowledge – Basic understanding of hydraulic tilt beds, winches, chains, binders, and load securement best practices.
Mechanical Aptitude – Strong ability to inspect, identify, and troubleshoot potential issues with transported equipment.
Licenses & Certifications Valid CDL Class A or B (clean driving record required).
DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain).
Forklift Operator Certification (preferred, training available).
Ability to pass a criminal background check, physical exam, and drug screening.
Key Skills & Attributes Regulatory Compliance – Deep understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and industry safety regulations for transport and logistics.
Navigation & Route Planning – Skilled in GPS systems, routing software, map reading, and adapting to changing delivery needs.
Customer-Centric Approach – Strong communication skills, ability to interact professionally with customers, and commitment to delivering top-tier service.
Independent & Reliable – Self-starter who thrives in an autonomous work environment, making sound decisions on the road.
Strong Physical Stamina – Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs., securing heavy loads, and working in diverse outdoor conditions.
Manual & Automatic Transmission Proficiency – Trained and comfortable with both transmission types for safe and efficient driving.
Problem-Solving & Stress Management – Ability to remain composed under pressure, troubleshoot logistics challenges, and keep deliveries on track.
