Job Overview
The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for collecting, organizing, scanning, and maintaining patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. This role ensures accurate and timely document management to support efficient clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medical Records Specialist also assists with administrative tasks, including faxing documents and supporting clinical staff as needed.
What you'll do
- Collects and gathers documents from disignated areas for scanning into the EMR system.
- Organizes and prepares documents for scanning to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Scans and catagorizes documents into appropriate patient charts following established protocols.
- Verifies the quality and accuracy of scanned records and resolves any discropancies
- Ensures timely processing of incoming and outgoing records to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Faxes patient-related documents as instructed.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assists with administrative tasks related to medical record management.
- Performs other dutues as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Manage and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with regulations and standards.
- Utilize EHR systems to input, update, and retrieve patient information efficiently.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive patient data at all times.
- Respond to requests for medical records from authorized personnel promptly.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations related to medical records management.
Basic qualifications
- Experience working in a medical office setting is essential.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems is required.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Previous experience handling medical records or similar documentation processes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are highly valued.
- Strong emphasis on communicating both written and verbally.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong teamwork skills and contribute positively to a collaborative office environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $19.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
