The Role:
As part of the Data and Analytics division of JD Power, you will work to understand the features that drive the price of a vehicle and predict what future vehicle values will be. Our data science team is accountable for every data point we output and provides accurate, transparent, industry-leading analytics. We are looking for an AI Engineer who will have the freedom to utilize the latest technologies to solve challenging problems, create innovative machine learning processes from the ground up, deploy them into production on our AWS server and/or Palantir, and develop cutting-edge tools for monitoring our ML suite of algorithms. The Impact You Will Have in This Role:
We make data products and every new data product we output will solve problems in the auto industry. Our AI Engineers will build models that go into production and directly impact our core products for our clients.
What You'll Be Doing in This Role:
- Experience daily immersion in automotive industry data.
- Working with business units to articulate a pipeline of AI projects to drive operational efficiency and revenue growth.
- Create reusable frameworks to integrate multiple AI models into production workflows.
- Lead the creation of multiple AI models simultaneously and put them into production.
- Communications to customer success, product, and senior data science leadership while requiring minimal feedback for communication documents and presentations.
- Coach team members on exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and data transformations.
- Leads PI (Program Increment) planning for activities to be conducted in the next quarter, with limited supervision, for major developmental modules or projects.
- Fluent in other data science models, data sources, and data limitations within business units.
- Strong expectation to bring up, propose, and coordinate solution execution to resolve issues, with help from leadership if needed.
Qualifications of this Role:
- Enthusiasm for the automotive industry
- Curiosity and passion for solving problems with data
- Ability to lead the creation of multiple AI models simultaneously and put them into production.
- Demonstrated proficiency of AI programming languages including Python.
- Demonstrated use of AI evaluation metrics including accuracy, precision, recall, ROC, AUC, F1 scores, MSE, R-squared, etc, in model building & evaluation.
- Focuses on designing innovative solutions for challenging AI problems.
- Requires effective collaboration with stakeholders for AI adoption and best practices.
- 8+ years of professional experience working with large datasets
- 8+ years of professional experience with statistical programming software (Spark, Python preferred)
- 10+ years of professional experience and fluency with database software (RedShift, Hive, SQL, MYSQL)
- 5+ years of professional experience deploying cloud-based automated analytic processes
- 5+ in machine learning model deployment with automate model monitoring
- Master's Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or a related technical field
Nice to Have:
- Experience with automotive market data
- Experience working with AWS tools (like Sagemaker, Glue, Batch, Lamdba)
- Experience working with Palantir
- Experience deploying machine learning models into production with an API
- Experience with specialized UI app (viz. StreamLit, Gradio) for live interactions with ML models
- Experience with MLOps and CICD for trigger or rule based invocation of the training/evaluation/re-deployment cycle
- Experience with API based enablement of model training/inference and integration of the model lifecycle in live user interactions
- Experience with model deployment and non-pandas/non-sql data structures
- PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related field
