Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new dishes and seasonal specials that appeal to diverse tastes.
- Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and assembling ingredients efficiently and safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils.
- Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food handling, sanitation procedures, and temperature controls.
- Support catering events by preparing dishes in advance and ensuring timely service during special functions.
- Serve meals to guests or customers in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely delivery of meals.
- Use knife skills effectively for precise food prep, maintaining safety standards at all times.
- Assist dietary aides or staff in meal assembly for residents or clients with specific dietary needs.
- Contribute to inventory management by monitoring supplies and notifying management of stock levels or shortages.
Requirements
- Prior experience in dietary departments, catering, or restaurant kitchens is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated culinary experience with knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
- Familiarity with food industry standards for safety, sanitation, and handling procedures.
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation across various cuisines or dietary requirements.
- Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and fine dining service is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper hygiene practices essential for this role.
- Previous dietary aide experience or working within healthcare or community settings is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and assist with serving or other food service duties as needed.
