Payroll Specialist

Landtech Contractors, a leading company in the construction industry, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist. This role primarily focuses on processing weekly payroll for field and operations staff. Responsibilities- Process weekly payroll for field and operations employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
- Manage certified payroll reporting for prevailing wage projects, including submission of reports to appropriate parties.
- Review and verify timekeeping records; resolve discrepancies and ensure proper job costing allocation.
- Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors to verify labor hours and job costing.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax documents, benefit deductions, and wage garnishments.
- Partner with HR and accounting to coordinate on employee benefits, PTO tracking, and payroll-related journal entries.
- Generate reports on labor costs, headcounts, and other payroll-related metrics for finance or operations teams.
- Support internal and external audits, assist with year-end processes, including W-2 distribution and quarterly tax filings.
- Identify opportunities to streamline payroll operations and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- The weekly payroll process will generally not take the entire week. This position will likely assist Accounts Payable with invoice processing for a few hours a week after the payroll run is complete.
- Two or more years of payroll processing experience is preferred.
- Experience in the commercial construction industry is greatly preferred.
- Knowledge of general accounting practices.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Trimble/Viewpoint Spectrum is a major plus.
- Flexible and willing to assist with ad-hoc projects.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the discretion
- Experience with Accounts Payable
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
