Position Overview
As a
Referral Specialist
, you will serve as the
initial point of contact for new patients
, ensuring a seamless experience from referral to scheduling. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with providers and patients to facilitate timely imaging services.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions

  • Complete patient registration and obtain insurance authorization for diagnostic testing and hospital admissions.
  • Verify financial and insurance information; update billing systems as needed.
  • Initiate referral and authorization processes for all services and visits.
  • Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Communicate with scheduling to confirm insurance requirements for upcoming appointments.
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate patient visits.
  • Provide patients with referral information for physicians and facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (PCPs, patients, clinical departments) to secure required authorizations.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance in compliance with Orlando Health policies and applicable regulations (ADA, FMLA).
  • Adhere to all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education & Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year in retail, customer service, or healthcare setting.
