Nonprofit Grantwriter (Contractual Basis)
Paws 4 Cancer (P4C)
is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented grant writer to join our recently founded nonprofit. This individual will be responsible for researching, preparing, and managing grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporate partners, and government sources. The ideal candidate will be a compelling storyteller who can translate our mission into persuasive narratives that drive donor/grant support.
is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing understanding, research, and access to treatment for canine cancer by fostering partnerships at the local and national levels. We also provide community outreach, support, and education for families with canine companions.
Proven Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred)
- A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in grant writing with a proven track record of successfully funded grants
- Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles and strategies.
- Ability to work in a freelance environment, reporting regularly to the CEO.
Strong Research & Analytical Skills:
- Proficient in grant research techniques to identify and qualify potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information to build support for a project.
Exceptional Writing & Communication Skills:
- Ability to connect the mission of a nonprofit to the grantmaker's funding area.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling narratives.
- Demonstrated ability to write for different audiences and adapt tone and style to match a funder's priorities.
Organizational & Project Management Skills:
- Attention to detail and accuracy, specifically guidelines and submission deadlines.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Financial Skills:
- Ability to understand non-profit and grantmaker financial documents (990's, etc.) and develop clear and accurate project budgets for proposals.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Google Workspace
Submission Guidelines:
- Cover Letter (outlining interest and relevant qualifications)
- CV/Resume
- Proposed Fee Structure and Availability (hourly or project-based, including estimated hours of availability)
- Work Samples (minimum of 2 relevant writing samples, such as proposals, or similar materials)
- References (minimum of 2, with contact information)
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $ $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
