Senior Program Manager, AV HMI
The Role
Are you passionate about shaping the future of mobility? Join General Motors as a Senior Program Manager focused on Human-Machine Interface (HMI) within our Autonomous Vehicle (AV) program. What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end program delivery for AV HMI initiatives, from requirements definition through launch, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, design, software, and product teams to ensure alignment and timely execution.
- Drive stakeholder engagement, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners and ensuring transparency across all levels.
- Adapt and optimize plans based on evolving priorities, technical challenges, and business needs.
- Communicate program status and risks clearly and effectively to leadership, escalating issues when necessary.
- Champion user-centric design, ensuring HMI solutions are intuitive, safe, and aligned with AV system capabilities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience managing complex software or systems programs in automotive, ADAS, AV, or HMI domains
- 3+ years of program/project management experience, with hands-on knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and executive audiences
- Experience working across time zones and cultures, driving global collaboration
What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master's degree or MBA
- Direct experience with HMI development for AV or ADAS systems
- Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, SAFe)
- PMP certification
- Experience with Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, or similar program management tools
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
- The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $186,200. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
