Job Summary

As a Toddler Assistant Teacher at Googols of Learning, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and engaging environment for our energetic 1–2.5-year-olds. You will help implement classroom routines, support hands-on learning, and model positive behavior while maintaining the warm, consistent, relationship-based care that Googols is known for.

About Us

Googols of Learning Child Development Center is a full-time early childhood program serving up to 122 children, ages 1 to 6. Our mission is to promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth of every child through high-quality, developmentally appropriate experiences.

As a PBS (Positive Behavioral Support) program site and a center committed to Anti-Bias Education, our practices focus on teaching social–emotional skills, modeling empathy, and intentionally building an inclusive environment. Our toddler classrooms emphasize secure attachments, predictable routines, independence-building, and lots of playful exploration.

Duties & Responsibilities

Classroom Support & Instruction

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and setting up materials for daily routines, sensory activities, small groups, and hands-on toddler learning experiences.

Toddler-Focused Care & Behavior Support

  • Provide warm, responsive, and consistent interactions that support toddlers' emotional regulation, communication, and confidence.
  • Model and reinforce PBS strategies, including redirection, emotion labeling, visual supports, and positive reinforcement.
  • Help maintain predictable routines and classroom expectations that support toddlers' sense of safety and belonging.

Environment & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom following state licensing requirements and Googols procedures.
  • Assist with daily cleaning tasks, sanitizing toys, monitoring materials, and ensuring the learning environment is ready for each part of the day.

Communication & Teamwork

  • Communicate with children using clear, calm, and supportive language appropriate for toddlers.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and center staff to ensure consistency in expectations and routines.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Help implement lesson plans by engaging children in play-based activities that build language, motor skills, and social–emotional development.
  • Support children through transitions, toileting routines, and meal times while promoting independence and self-help skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or with toddlers in a group setting preferred.
  • Basic understanding of toddler development, early learning best practices, and responsive caregiving.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with young children, families, and coworkers.
  • Ability to work as a supportive team member and follow Lead Teacher direction with initiative and positivity.
  • Willingness to learn and apply Googols' PBS and Anti-Bias Education practices.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain calm in a fast-paced toddler environment.
