Front Desk Receptionist/Scheduler

Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and their families by managing front-desk operations. This includes handling incoming calls, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting payments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring efficient patient flow. This role operates under the general supervision of the Practice Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily general office duties including word processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones, and data entry.
- Schedule new and follow-up patient appointments, confirm details, and provide patients with necessary visit information.
- Screen patients for updated addresses, contact details, and insurance coverage; accurately update registration information in the system.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, and document verification details in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Obtain and track authorizations or referrals for office visits and procedures as required by insurance plans.
- Maintain accurate and ongoing documentation of referrals to support care coordination and team communication.
- Provide telephonic support to complete online authorizations for visits and procedures.
- Collect patient payments and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date patient demographic, insurance, and benefit information.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various insurance carriers, policies, and contracted providers.
- Perform other administrative or clerical duties as assigned by the Practice Manager.
