VP of Product

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Identify and negotiate purchases of sports cards, memorabilia, and collections through private sellers, dealers, and estates.
• Evaluate incoming deal opportunities, assess authenticity and market value, and prepare cost-benefit analyses.
• Work closely with the CEO on large-scale acquisitions and high-value transactions.
• Develop and execute lead generation strategies to source new sellers, consignors, and collection opportunities.
• Build partnerships with collectors, dealers, and auction houses to expand SMR's network and sourcing pipeline.
• Maintain an active prospect list with regular follow-ups and conversion tracking.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value clients, consignors, and recurring sellers.
• Handle communications professionally, ensuring accurate updates and transparency regarding deals, consignments, or sales timelines.
• Resolve client concerns and ensure a positive experience that strengthens long-term relationships.
• Hire and onboard new employees.
• Coordinate with accounting for client payments, statements, and reconciliations.
• Develop standardized client intake and retention systems to improve efficiency.
• Manage and represent SMR Collectibles at shows (either with owner or alone), which will require travel and weekend availability.
• Manage booth setup, inventory selection, and staff assignments for on-site sales or purchases.
• Build relationships with other vendors and buyers at shows to develop new business opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies on cash handling, inventory transport, and vendor agreements.
• Supervise the intake process for purchased or consigned collections — from item sorting to cataloging and authentication.
• Implement quality-control checks to maintain accuracy across product descriptions, pricing, and condition notes.
• Work with warehouse and listing staff to maintain efficient turnaround from acquisition to sale.
• Train and supervise processing, listing, and sales staff involved in the collectibles pipeline.
• Coordinate cross-department communication between purchasing, processing, warehouse, and sales teams.
• Propose operational improvements to increase throughput, reduce errors, and optimize profitability.
• Report directly to the CEO with weekly updates on purchases, deals in progress, and upcoming opportunities.

Qualifications:

• High School Degree (minimum)
• Bachelors Degree (preferred)
• Reliable transportation to and from the workplace. (required)
• Expert level experience with sports cards and the collectibles industry
• Experience using eBay (preferred)
• A positive, eager-to-learn attitude
• Computer skills including, but not limited to, typing
• Ability to lift at least 50lbs
• Organizational skills
• Attention to detail
• Comfortable working in an open warehouse environment

Compensation: $30/hour

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
