About the Role

MPX Group is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our finance team. This position supports the CFO and plays a key role in daily and monthly accounting activities — including general ledger management, reconciliations, AP/AR oversight, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and eager to take ownership of core accounting processes while growing into a future leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Reconcile cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and accruals
  • Process vendor invoices and payments; monitor receivables and apply customer payments
  • Assist with monthly and annual closing processes
  • Generate financial reports and variance analyses for CFO review
  • Maintain documentation to support audits and tax filings
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Support the CFO with special projects and ad-hoc analysis

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience (public or private)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
  • Experience managing general ledger activity, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Hands-on accounts payable and receivable experience
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, data analysis)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work directly with senior leadership and maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with payroll accounting or HR/payroll systems
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax filings
  • Exposure to financial forecasting and budgeting
  • Experience in a manufacturing, print, or production environment
