Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to lead day to day accounting operations and oversee financial reporting activities for our growing organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, strengthening internal controls, and supporting external audits and strategic initiatives such future IPO readiness. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can manage accounting operations while driving process improvements in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all general accounting operations, including general ledger management, journal entry preparation and review, account reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly/year-end close processes.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements, management reports, and internal accounting system (QB).
- Oversee accounts payable, employee expense reporting, corporate card reconciliations, and payroll-related activities, ensuring compliance with applicable tax and benefit regulations.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks, including proper segregation of duties.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants, and lead the company's annual audit and tax preparation processes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (R&D, Operations, HR, and Leadership) to support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and cost allocation activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies, and lead initiatives to implement best practices.
- Lead and support the implementation of accounting and finance-related systems and solutions, including requirements definition, data migration, testing, and process optimization.
- Support strategic corporate initiatives such as fundraising activities, investor reporting, and IPO / pre-IPO readiness, including enhanced reporting and compliance requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in biotech, pharma, or startup environments.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and supporting financial statement audits.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in Korean and English required.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA preferred.
- Experience using or implementing accounting and finance-related solutions (e.g., NetSuite or SAP for ERP, Prendio or Coupa for procurement, and Carta for cap table management, or similar systems and solutions) is preferred.
- Experience supporting IPO or pre-IPO readiness activities including SOX-related controls, enhanced reporting requirements, and audit preparation.
- Prior experience in venture-backed or high-growth biotech or life sciences companies.
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting team members.
