Job description

Busy and expanding Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice in Staten Island, NY is seeking an experienced and dedicated part-time surgical assistant to contribute to our continued success. We specialize in dentoalveolar surgery, including wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting, and dental implants.

We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented team player with exceptional communication and organizational skills. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy patient care, and have a passion for surgical assisting, we'd love to hear from you

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in dental assisting (Preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with in-office IV sedation (Preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in oral surgery (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem-solve
  • Exceptional patient care and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and a team player

Key Responsibilities (Not limited to):

  • Assist the surgeon with in-office surgical procedures (e.g., extractions, implant placement, bone grafting, and pathology removal)
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with anesthesia/sedation administration
  • Educate patients on pre-op and post-op instructions
  • Take impressions for surgical guides
  • Review patient health history and update records in the practice management software
  • Capture diagnostic X-rays
  • Set up and break down surgical trays and operatories
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain a clean surgical environment
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance
