About the Role
The Payroll & HR Assistant plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources and Payroll departments. This position ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, while also assisting with HR administration, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment.
Payroll Support
- Process biweekly or weekly payroll for all employees accurately and on schedule.
- Review timesheets, verify hours worked, and ensure all PTO, commissions, and bonuses are recorded correctly.
- Maintain payroll records and assist in audits or reporting as needed.
- Support managers and employees with payroll-related questions or adjustments.
- Collaborate with accounting on payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
HR Administration
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including documentation and system setup/termination.
- Maintain and update personnel files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with labor laws (CA, TX, MA)
- Help coordinate benefits enrollments, changes, and employee communication.
- Track attendance, leave balances, and performance reviews.
- Support HR initiatives including policy updates, compliance audits, and company culture events.
Employee Support & Communication
- Act as a point of contact for HR and payroll inquiries.
- Provide friendly, professional support to employees and managers.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace aligned with company culture and values.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in payroll, HR, or administrative support (Paylocity or similar systems preferred).
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and basic employment law.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Excel, HRIS systems, and payroll software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40, $50,000.00 per year
