THE OPPORTUNITY
Holland Construction Services is seeking a dynamic Director of Health, SafetyChange Management to lead our safety strategy across all projects. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with company, owner, and government regulations, while also championing a transformation in how our teams think about and approach safety. The ideal candidate will combine deep construction safety expertise with proven experience in change management, driving a culture where safety is a shared value, not just a requirement.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop, maintain, and communicate the company-wide safety program, ensuring compliance across diverse construction projects.
- Lead cultural change initiatives to embed safety as a core organizational value, using change management best practices.
- Provide direction, education, and oversight to project teams for all safety activities.
- Conduct accident investigations, root cause analyses, and manage general liability losses.
- Serve as a leader and resource for safety committees, both internally and within the broader industry.
- Oversee OSHA investigations, litigation, and compliance inspections for various construction types (wood frame, tilt slab, steel, brickblock, roadwork).
- Organize and lead 'stand down' safety meetings and on-site safety trainings.
- Facilitate jobsite team meetings, focusing on subcontractor safety compliance and proactive risk identification.
- Deliver company safety training and keep site superintendents updated on new regulations.
- Collaborate with pre-construction teams to identify and address future jobsite safety issues.
- Provide management with clear, actionable reporting on safety issues, trends, and insurance needs.
- Manage insurance claims and work closely with insurers before and after incidents.
CHANGE MANAGEMENT FOCUS
- Design and implement strategies to shift mindsets and behaviors around safety at all levels of the organization.
- Act as a change agent, engaging employees, subcontractors, and leadership in the journey toward a proactive, people-centered safety culture.
- Measure and report on progress toward cultural change goals.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational SafetyHealth (ABET accredited) or related field required; advanced degree or certification in Change Management strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in construction safety, with a demonstrated track record of leading cultural or organizational change.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
