Role Overview

The Health and Safety Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of employees in the workplace. They will work to identify hazards and develop strategies to prevent accidents and injuries. The technician will also train and implement safety training programs and perform inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position, reporting into our Director of Health, Safety, and Security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Health, Safety and Security in developing and implementing safety policies, programs, and procedures that meet OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Identify potential hazards through regular workplace assessments and develop strategies to minimize risk and prevent injuries.
  • Conduct scheduled safety inspections and audits; document findings and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support the creation and delivery of safety training programs, toolbox talks, and communications for employees and supervisors.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports with root cause analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • Track and report safety performance metrics.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including evacuation plans, response drills, and first-aid readiness.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations as well as industry best practices; recommend updates to policies and training as needed.
  • Partner with management and employees to promote a strong, proactive safety culture across the facility.
  • Monitor personal protective equipment (PPE) needs; ensure proper selection, distribution, fit testing, and replacement when necessary.
  • Assist in onboarding contractors and visitors to site safety protocols; ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Help organize and document safety committee meetings; communicate updates and action items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Safety Technician must be able to work in various settings, including office and manufacturing environments. They must also be able to travel to other locations to perform safety audits and training programs. This position requires a person who is detail-oriented, analytical, and has strong interpersonal skills. Required skills and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing plant
  • Experience developing and implementing safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree
  • 1-2 years of Safety, Health, and Environment management in manufacturing.
  • Understanding of cross-functional collaboration in achieving business goals.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Ability to work flexible days/hours when needed
