Accounting Manager – HOA Accounting

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations for a portfolio of HOA and Condominium associations
  • Lead, mentor, and provide guidance to accounting staff to ensure high performance and professional development
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparation and review of monthly financial packages
  • Review and approve accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, and supporting schedules
  • Support the Accounting Director with process improvements, staff training, and team development initiatives
  • Coordinate with property managers, board members, auditors, and vendors to address accounting matters and support client needs
  • Monitor compliance with association governing documents, budgets, and financial policies
  • Assist with annual budget preparation, year-end processes, and audit support
  • Troubleshoot accounting discrepancies and provide guidance to staff accountants
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate accounting standards and best practices
Qualifications
  • Management experience required, with a proven ability to lead and mentor accounting staff
  • 35+ years of experience in HOA or condominium accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, fund accounting, and financial reporting for common interest communities
  • Experience with property management accounting software (such as Vantaca, TOPS, Jenark, or similar platforms)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the Accounting Director and cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Bachelors degree required (Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • CPA, CMA, CAM, or related industry designations strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
