Responsibilities
Kforce has partnered with a growing local organization, named a Top Workplace in Saint Louis, MO for seven consecutive years, to identify a strategic Director of Human Resources. Summary: This leader will oversee key HR functions including recruitment, compensation, benefits, learning and development, employee relations, compliance, and regulatory reporting. They will serve as a trusted partner to business leaders by driving talent management initiatives across the full employee lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding to development and retention. This opportunity offers a strong culture and excellent work-life balance, the role will be on site 5 days a week. Responsibilities:
- Oversee core HR operations, including payroll systems, benefits administration, employee relations, and training programs
- Lead end-to-end talent management activities such as recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance development, and retention support
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, policies, and regulatory requirements while advising managers and employees on proper interpretation and application
- Guide leaders on coaching, corrective action, and separation processes, as needed
- Conduct employee relations investigations and drive timely resolution of workplace concerns
- Support engagement and culture initiatives, including surveys and employee-focused events
- Manage compensation and benefits reviews to help attract and retain top talent, staying current on market trends and best practices
- Supervise select administrative roles and oversee HR-related programs as assigned
- Assist with special projects and strategic HR initiatives to strengthen overall organizational effectiveness
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- Experience overseeing employee data and benefit administration, along with solid understanding of federal and state employment laws
- Skilled in navigating complex or evolving environments while maintaining a positive, service-oriented approach
- Technically proficient in HRIS/payroll platforms and productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and basic data analysis
- Demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct, and ability to build trust at all levels
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to partner effectively across the organization
- Highly organized with strong follow-through and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment
- Occasional travel may be required; 100% in the office role
Preferred
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or equivalent) strongly preferred
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in human resources leadership preferred
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
