About the Role
As a Retail Interior Designer, you'll help customers bring their visions to life through personalized, thoughtful design guidance. You'll work directly with homeowners and contractors to select paint, flooring, window treatments, and wallcoverings that enhance both function and beauty.
This role is ideal for a designer who loves connecting with people, thrives in a collaborative retail environment, and values long-term relationships over quick transactions.
What You'll Do
Provide in-store and scheduled design consultations for residential projects
Help clients select paint colors, wallcoverings, flooring, and window treatments
Create cohesive design presentations and recommendations that fit each client's lifestyle, budget, and goals
Maintain strong product knowledge across all design categories
Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and team members for seamless project coordination
Stay current with design trends while honoring timeless principles and aesthetic
Use POS Software and other design tools to manage projects and process transactions
Uphold Johnston's core values in every interaction
What We're Looking For
Degree or certification in Interior Design or related field preferred
2+ years of residential or retail design experience
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to listen well and guide clients with confidence
Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
Experience with design visualization tools
Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00–5:00, with some saturdays
