Houston, Texas, United States Gridmatic Full time

The Company
Gridmatic Inc is a high-growth startup that is accelerating the clean energy transition by applying AI to power markets. We apply machine learning to deliver predictability and manage risk for renewable energy supply and demand. We are the rare startup that has multiple years of profitability without raising venture capital. To support its rapid growth, the company has established itself as a retail energy provider to large commercial load in ERCOT (Texas). Gridmatic is a great place to work with a culture that values teamwork and continuous learning, and we value integrity as much as excellence.

The Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated professional to join our Retail Operations team, focused on serving commercial electricity customers in ERCOT and PJM. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless execution of key operational functions including billing, enrollment, regulatory compliance, broker commissions, and customer support.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, data-driven environment. You'll work cross-functionally to drive accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across the retail energy and customer lifecycle, while delivering exceptional service to both customers and broker partners.

This is a high-impact role with broad exposure across the business, ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of operations, data, and strategy.

What you might work on:

  • Billing
  • Oversee the timely and accurate generation of customer invoices
  • Monitor and resolve billing exceptions and discrepancies
  • Partner with internal teams to improve billing accuracy and automation
  • Customer Enrollment
  • Ensure all commercial customers are enrolled accurately and on schedule
  • Manage enrollment exceptions and troubleshoot issues as they arise
  • Collaborate with IT and third-party vendors to enhance and automate enrollment systems
  • Regulatory
  • Monitor and interpret regulations across ERCOT, PJM, and other U.S. power markets
  • Ensure in compliance with market rules and commission guidelines (FERC, PUC, State, and utilities) and prepare data and assist with regulatory filings, audits, and reports
  • Partner with legal, compliance, and operations teams to assess and manage regulatory risk
  • Commissions
  • Track and report on commission structures, performance, and exceptions
  • Address broker inquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Develop tools and reporting processes to automate and optimize commission workflows
  • Customer Service
  • Respond to customer inquiries and issues with clarity, professionalism, and urgency
  • Ensure seamless coordination between operations, billing, and support teams
  • Data Analytics
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities
  • Develop dashboards and predictive models using SQL, Python, Tableau, and Power BI
  • Support business decisions with clear, concise reports and visualizations
  • Strategic Operations Support
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve tools, systems, and workflows
  • Contribute to special projects including workflow scaling and new service rollouts
  • Drive operational improvements to support customer satisfaction and company growth

You might be a good fit if you:

  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics, operations, or regulatory roles, ideally within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex problems and present data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and communication skills—able to distill technical information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Knowledge of U.S. power markets, including ERCOT and PJM, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with billing systems such as Vertexone and data tools, SQL, Python, and visualization platforms like Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
