Job Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Staff Coordinator III serves as an essential link and resource between senior management

and medical staff to coordinate the operational processes and ongoing credentialing, privileging and

medical staff governance functions. The Medical Staff Coordinator III is accountable for all aspects of

organizing and supporting meetings required to accomplish credentialing in conformance with

established policies, regulations and laws. The Medical Staff Coordinator III supports the Director of

Medical Staff Services and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES

  1. Audits, assess', procures, implements, effectively utilizes and maintains practitioner

credentialing processes and information systems as outlined by the department. Uniformly

applies clearly defined credentialing or privileging processes to all practitioners

  1. Evaluates credentialing and privileging requests and evidence of education, training and

experience to determine eligibility for requested privileges, and membership, including pulling

and analyzing case/procedure logs from internal and external facilities.

  1. Ensures appointment and reappointment credentialing files are complete and accurately verified

along with all required documentation prior to review of the Chairman, Chief and Manager.

  1. Recognizes, investigates, and validates discrepancies and adverse information obtained.

  2. Participates in an ongoing assessment of governing documents (bylaws and rules and

regulations and policies and procedures) to ensure continuous compliance.

  1. Ensures all office policies are maintained in support of the bylaws and regulatory authorities.

  2. Participates in and takes minutes at designated medical staff meetings. Meeting minutes are

recorded, transcribed and distributed according to policy and agreed upon timeframe.

  1. Acts as advisor to new Associates, responsible for training and leading in the department.

  2. Serves as an effective liaison for administration, hospital departments, medical staff members,

board members or other offices.

  1. Identifies and reports to their manager adverse actions taken against a licensed practitioner in

accordance with applicable law.

  1. Develops and cultivates working relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external

to ensure appropriate awareness of key issues and decision making

  1. Maintains the medical staff bank account – making deposits, writing checks, completing 1099's

for medical staff leaders, creating and sending invoices for annual medical staff dues and

application fees.

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Associate's degree in relevant field.
  • Work Experience:

o Five(5) years of experience in Medical Staff Services.

o Credentialing software program experience.

  • Licensure: None
  • Certification: Any one of the following by prior to start date:

o Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) OR.

o Certified Medical Staff Services Manager (CPMSM).

  • Work Experience In Lieu of Education: Five (5) years of Medical Staff Professional,

credentialing, and privileging experience.

  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

o Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

o Demonstrates excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

o Ability to prioritize and organize to maximize quality, value and service.

o Must be able to work independently with, prioritize and organize work to maximize

quality, value and service.

o Demonstrates an understanding of state and regulatory standards in relation to medical

staff credentialing and privileging including telemedicine and credential by proxy, may

meet with regulatory surveyors as needed.

o Ability to work in multiple locations in the Hospital Division.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low

to moderate noise.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite, or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of
  • personal vehicle
