We are seeking a full-time Patient Account Coordinator to assist the billing department at our family medicine clinic. In this roll, you will manage patient collection accounts, past due accounts, communicate with insurance companies, and manage incoming and outgoing medical records requests. We need someone who has a strong attention to detail, computer skills, interpersonal skills, and analytical thinking. This is an onsite position, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

· Manage patient collection accounts and contact patients about past due balances.

· Follow-up on claims through inbound and outbound phone calls, e-mail, and website to resolve unpaid or denied insurance claims.

· Process and post patient payments.

· Know the basics of medical insurance - copays, deductibles, co-insurance, etc.

· Answer incoming phone calls from patients and insurance companies. Help answer patient inquiries regarding their account and take payment.

· Prepare invoices, process payments, and set up payment plans.

· Receive and process requests for patient health information from external sources and patients, in a timely manner, in accordance with Grandview Family Medicine policies and procedures.

· Request patient records from external sources and scan documents into the EMR system.

· Responsible for safeguarding patient records against unauthorized disclosure and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.

· May assist with administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, data entry, and other duties as assigned.

· Abide by HIPAA laws and maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

· Prior experience in medical billing, coding, and records.

· Familiarity with EMR systems.

· Professional phone and communication skills.

· Excellent attention to detail and able to multi-task.

· Proficiency in use of computers, spreadsheets, and QuickBooks.

· Proactive and motivated individual who can work independently.

· High school diploma or equivalent required.
