The Location:
Taconic Biosciences is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to join our dedicated global EH&S team at our Cambridge City, IN site. Proximity within 30 minutes of the Cambridge City site is required.
The Pay Range:
$70,000 - $80,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered.

The Role:
As the on-site Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist for our Cambridge City, IN site, while also supporting our Seattle, WA location, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters and will work closely with internal teams. In this vital role, you will lead the implementation and oversight of comprehensive safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and cultivate a strong safety culture. You will also support key elements of the site's environmental programs and serve as the subject matter expert on specific EH&S topics nationwide. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who thrives on making a meaningful impact at the site level while supporting broader organizational objectives.
Core Responsibilities:
Serve as the focal point for all safety matters and select environmental programs for the Cambridge City site
Proactively identify issues, risk, opportunities, and trends that may impact the company
- Lead and/or support initiatives to assess and manage risk for all team members and contractors/vendors as applicable (e.g., job safety analysis, concern response, audits, inspections, exposure monitoring, etc.)
- Develop and improve upon written policies, programs, and procedures, in alignment with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders
- Conduct training (as applicable) making sure learners achieve the proper level of understanding
- Assist supervision with incident investigations including identification of root cause, determining effective corrective actions, and follow-through on the execution of corrective actions.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders as necessary (e.g., safety committee, safety liaisons, response teams, etc.)
- Support change management and process improvement efforts as requested and/or required
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and Taconic requirements
Provide administration to EH&S systems
Serve as a subject matter expert for select EH&S topics
Obtain and/or maintain expert level knowledge on topic (regulatory & industry/best practice) and how it applies or does not apply to the company
- Ensure related program/process documents are current and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements and/or industry best practices
- Design and/or select training content, evaluation, and identify learners for topic
Support other Global EH&S Team members on topic as needed
As a member of the Global EH&S team there will be jobs, tasks, and situations that arise that require cross functional assistance from all EH&S team members
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, with a preferred 3 years of direct experience in a dedicated safety role.
- A demonstrated ability to learn and follow procedures, identify potential risks and areas of improvement, and take initiative to improve workplace practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Power Point, Excel, etc.) – daily use in Excel is required in this role.
- Proficiency with navigating and utilizing different internal software systems (i.e. document control systems, safety management systems, learning management systems, facility maintenance systems, etc.)
- Experience collaborating across departments and effectively communicating with team members at all levels.
- Familiarity with safety programs, regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, etc.), participation in safety committees, training, or inspections is a plus.
Travel:
Occasional travel is required, generally 2-5 trips per year. Overnight travel may be necessary.

- Some use of chemicals, protective measures, and/or work with heavy machinery may be required. Some exposure to occupational hazards which require routine precautions. Some exposure to extremes in temperature, outdoor weather, strong odors, and/or noise levels occurs within the work environment.
