Position Summary

The Service Manager will oversee a team of skilled field technicians responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of advanced industrial machinery. While previous management experience is a plus, this role is also open to experienced field technicians ready to transition into leadership.

The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of CNC machinery, electromechanical systems, and industrial automation technologies. The position requires strong communication skills, operational oversight, and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of field service team, ensuring responsiveness, quality, and safety.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for customer issues and technician support.
  • Coordinate maintenance and service activities, meeting performance targets and service-level commitments.
  • Conduct site visits and support critical customer interactions when necessary.
  • Monitor field team productivity, training needs, and development opportunities.
  • Handle documentation, including service reports, inspections, and performance reviews.
  • Partner with internal teams to address product improvements and support customer satisfaction goals.
  • Support billing, invoicing, and service recordkeeping within operational timelines.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, professionalism, and customer care.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary technical education preferred.
  • Background in field service roles, ideally within the precision manufacturing or automation sectors.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls, motion systems, schematics, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to lead and coach technical teams.
  • At least 3 years of experience with installation and repair of industrial equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 20% (mostly domestic, occasional international).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD experience a plus.
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Focused on continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and quality.
