We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in various accounting disciplines, including GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance, with experience in non-profit, governmental, and public accounting environments. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to financial management, regulatory reporting, and strategic financial analysis within a dynamic organization. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive reports, and supporting the company's financial health through meticulous account reconciliation and cash management.
Duties
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory standards.
- Manage general ledger accounting processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing and accuracy.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with internal controls such as SOX.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements for government agencies and non-profit organizations.
- Perform cash management duties including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and bank reconciliations.
- Write detailed financial reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Support budgeting processes and provide variance analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or other financial management tools to streamline operations.
- Ensure compliance with corporate accounting standards and maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial concepts like double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and technical accounting principles.
- Participate in audits by preparing documentation and supporting audit procedures as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP; experience with IFRS or SOX compliance is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in general ledger reconciliation, account analysis, and financial report writing.
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting, governmental accounting standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; advanced Excel skills are essential.
- Strong knowledge of cash management techniques including forecasting and bank reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with sound financial acumen; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Experience working with accounts payable/receivable processes and payroll systems is desirable.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines consistently.
