Barnyard Specialties is a landscape design-build and maintenance firm based in Orange County, CA. We specialize in timeless, thoughtfully curated outdoor spaces that blend functionality, beauty, and California-coastal living.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Landscape Designer to join our growing team and take a leadership role within our design department. The ideal candidate will bring a strong design vision, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor and oversee a team of designers and draftspeople.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design team in developing high-end residential landscape projects from concept to completion.
  • Oversee and mentor junior designers to ensure consistency in design standards and deliverables.
  • Manage design timelines, workloads, and client expectations in collaboration with the company principal.
  • Create and review AutoCAD plans, 3D renderings, planting plans, and material boards.
  • Collaborate with the build and maintenance teams to ensure design integrity throughout construction.
  • Communicate confidently with clients, contractors, and consultants (engineers, surveyors, HOAs, etc.).
  • Contribute to system improvements, design efficiency, and overall design department growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional residential design experience (design-build firm experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • A passion for timeless, elegant outdoor design.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time, in-office (San Juan Capistrano, CA)
  • Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
