The Role:
The Property Accounting Manager will lead a team of property accountants responsible for delivering high-quality accounting services to clients in the commercial and residential real estate sectors. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing client relationships, and supporting team development. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You Will:
- Supervise and mentor a team of property accountants.
- Review and approve financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely completion of daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting tasks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and escalations.
- Maintain and enforce department Standard Operating Procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support client needs and internal initiatives.
- Participate in industry events and trade shows as needed.
- Provide backup support during team absences to ensure continuity of service.
You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in property accounting.
- Prior experience managing accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of real estate accounting practices.
- Experience with MRI Property Management X (PMX) software is a plus.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
