Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our rounding team at Port St. Lucie Hospital This is an opportunity to serve patients in an inpatient hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Patient and Follow up
  • Provide psychiatric assessments and medication management
  • Rounding at the hospital (inpatient)
  • Provide accurate diagnosis for presenting features as recognized in the DSM
  • Order medications and monitor their effectiveness (only within scope of practice)
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and counseling to patients
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
  • Educate patients and their families (with consent) about mental health conditions and treatment options
  • Document patient progress and treatment plan accurately in EMR and maintain confidentiality
  • Participate in rotating weekend schedules
  • Maintain compliance with clinical standards, policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Active FL APRN and DEA required
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required
  • Hospital rounding experience preferred (but not required)
  • Certification from national association as a PMHNP
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their side effects
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices for treating mental health disorders
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations
  • Flexibility
