The Behavior Specialist provides assessment, intervention, and coaching that strengthen social, emotional, and behavioral skills. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, this role helps members and caregivers build meaningful, independent lives while promoting dignity, inclusion, and community belonging.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral assessments and develop Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) and individualized "Tough Day" plans.
  • Coach and train staff, families, and caregivers in positive behavioral interventions and crisis prevention.
  • Collaborate with licensed professionals to support members with IDD and behavioral health needs.
  • Facilitate CEL's Positive Support Committee and participate in Human Rights Committee.
  • Lead or assist with trainings, family workshops, and the RVFRC Speaker Series.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with CQL and CEL standards and best practices.

Skills You Bring to CEL

  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required; Master's preferred.
  • Two or more years' experience supporting individuals with IDD or behavioral health challenges.
  • Experience conducting behavioral assessments and implementing Behavior Support Plans.
  • CPI Instructor certification (or ability to obtain within six months).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
