As a Vocational Specialist, you will be expected to assess a claimant's skills and employability based on education, work experience, and work-related injury restrictions for injured workers who have filed worker's compensation claims under the Defense Base Act. This includes vocational interviews, review of medical and vocational records, Transferable Skills Analysis, and Earning Capacity Assessment with recommendations for current job openings. You will need to be prepared to be called for a deposition.
This is a fast-paced position. You are expected to conduct up to 4 vocational assessment interviews per week and turn in LMS reports within 10 business days (with some exceptions). We are looking for candidates who are adaptable, responsible, and professional.
- Vocational Assessment (VA): A Vocational Assessment is when a trained expert meets with an individual to gather information to evaluate that person's skills, abilities, and limitations in the workforce. The expert then provides a written summary of the interview along with employment and education history and classification of the individual's past work.
- Labor Market Survey (LMS): An LMS is a survey of potential employment in the claimant's area, conducted by a trained expert that the claimant may be able to obtain given his experience, education, and medical work restrictions. Clients use this survey information to determine a benefit if a Claimant has work restrictions as a result of their injuries.
