Salary Range: $34.00 - $46.50

Department Overview

Our Acute Therapy team works in a dynamic, collaborative environment within the hospital. As a speech therapist, you will travel throughout various units, including pulmonary, surgical/trauma, cardiology, renal, neuro, oncology, general medical, and ICU, providing therapy to a diverse range of patients with complex diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech and language evaluations and diagnostic tests to create tailored treatment plans for patients with speech and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop personalized treatment strategies based on clinical assessments.
  • Provide hands-on speech and language therapy services while closely monitoring patient progress and adapting therapies as needed.
  • Educate patients on therapeutic exercises to enhance their speech and language skills.
  • Uphold all standards, policies, and quality protocols pertaining to speech and language services.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in accepting varying work schedules and assignments.
  • Collaborate with external professionals, including providers and case managers, to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Supervise assistants and students, offering ongoing education and support in speech therapy practices.

This role may extend to patients in post-acute, long-term care, and home health environments as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Required education must meet state licensure standards.
  • Must possess a license as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the applicable state.
  • While not mandatory, certification from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license may be required based on work assignments.
  • Maintain department-specific competencies and certifications; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or to be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
