Overview
What if your next career opportunity could give a voice to countless individuals in need? As a Speech Language Pathologist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, your contributions will transcend merely treating communication and swallowing disorders. You will play a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of patients, helping them regain confidence, and enhancing interpersonal connections - from playful toddlers uttering their first words to remarkable seniors regaining independence.
In this heartfelt position, you will have the opportunity to serve a diverse clientele across various age groups in an environment that harmonizes outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient support. Whether your passion lies in pediatric speech development, adult neurogenic communication challenges, or geriatric cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation, you will discover satisfaction and adaptability in your practice.
Role Responsibilities
- Assess patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics employing standardized evaluation methods and observational strategies.
- Create tailored treatment plans that focus on both immediate goals and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing requirements.
- Deliver individualized speech therapy directly addressing language, fluency, voice, and swallowing capabilities.
- Cooperate with a multidisciplinary team including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, caregivers, and families to develop integrated care approaches.
- Provide education to patients and their families to enhance progress beyond clinical visits.
- Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions to ensure continuity in patient care throughout their treatment path.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation in alignment with applicable state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing education and collaborative efforts with peers.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet accredited by ASHA.
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Expertise in evidence-based interventions for diverse ages, coupled with a solid understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with patients, their families, and collaborative care teams.
- Capability to modify therapy strategies to adapt to a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Robust clinical judgment and adept problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with electronic medical record systems and documentation practices.
- Competitive salary reflective of your experience.
- Flexible scheduling options that promote a healthy work-life balance with varied patient caseloads.
- Chances to delve deep into pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric therapy.
- Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits.
- Support for continuing education and professional growth.
- A collaborative team environment that emphasizes quality patient care and lifelong learning.
A Rewarding Career Awaits You - Embrace the Journey
In this fulfilling role, you won't merely be providing speech therapy - you'll be part of a heartfelt mission that aims to restore voices, foster connections, and create joyful interactions through the most fundamental human abilities: understanding and communication.
You'll be surrounded by colleagues who value teamwork and camaraderie, in an environment that prioritizes shared success over rivalry. Every patient has a narrative; and we trust you to help shape and enrich those narratives.
